In each class from P1-P7 there was an election campaign and vote to decide who each class' pupil council member would be. Pupils had to give a speech to their classmates on why they would be a good choice as Pupil Council representative. All pupils then voted and the pupil (s) with the most votes became Pupil Council members.
This year's Pupil Council members took part in training run by the previous year's Pupil Council Members.
The Pupil Council meet regulary to discuss possible projects in school and also to share with the rest of the Pupil Council there classmates ideas and suggestions.
We are currently pursuing a local area issue and have lots of great ideas in the pipeline. Watch this space...

The Sports Council consist of 10 pupils from across P5-7. The aims of the Council were created by the children

to promote sport in St Mark's
to encourage others to be physically active
to give the children of St mark's a voice in sporting issues

Meetings are held monthly or more frequently if required. The Sports Council have worked very hard to achieve two consecutive School Sport Gold Awards, being one of the few schools in Scotland to do so. One of their main tasks is to design, implement, organise and score a sporting activity that every child in the school can participate in and gain points for their respective Houses. The members give up 2 lunchtimes a week during term 2 to run the event and this kind of commitment is what is required to be a member of this group. The winning House participate in a sporting event, in partnership with the Sports Leaders and PE staff at Trinity High school and this annual event is very much looked forward to by the whole school.

Saint Mark's choir have had a really busy couple of months and it's only going to get busier!  We were delighted with our performance at our showcase in October.  Thank-you to all the parents and carers who came to support us in our fist ever live performance!
November will allow us to start preparing for the following, busy month we have coming up.  In December, we will be singing Christmas Carols in Tesco, Rutherglen; performing in a local care home and welcoming the audience with some 'Christmas Cheer' as they join us for the Christmas Show.
We are so excited for you to hear all of our new songs and hope that you can join us for some of the exciting events we have coming up!
